ALL THE ACTION - NO BRUISES

Cricket Stats is a game for cricket fans. It was originally played through the post, and now it is played online and by email (which most people think is better). You build an imaginary team out of real life players, and match them each week against teams built by other players like yourself. Your players bat and bowl in the game when they do in real life.

You can't pick just anyone. It works like a proper league. A player can play for only one team in the league, and when you want to sign a player you must bid against any other coaches that want the same guy. We don't tell you how much to bid. It's up to you, and how much the other coaches are willing to offer. That's one of the skills you'll need. See the players in action and decide for yourself how much they're worth.

One of the advantages of playing Cricket Stats is almost ANY top level game will include players in your squad, or players you might be interested in signing. Every game matters.

You don't just score points in a table. You play head to head, matched up each week against one of the other teams in your league. What matters is beating whichever opponent you're facing this week.

You pick your team for each game from among the players you signed previously. You have to keep a sensible selection of batsmen, bowlers and all-rounders with a wicket keeper, and you need variety from your bowlers. You also have to balance the books, to make sure you can afford the players you've signed and still have cash in the bank when the right player becomes available.

Competition is intense and resources are tight. The game is continuous, week to week and season to season. You start next season with the same team you finish this season, so there's always a balance to strike between the players needed right now push and the players you're backing to be the stars of the future.

What matters is beating whichever opponent you're facing this week. Follow the More About the Game link for more details.
